Well, Monday rolls around again and let’s hope it’s a better week. I would like to say I’m feeling better about the result on Friday, but as I watch our country descend into chaos it’s rather hard to find a positive side. Our economy is plunging, international companies are already starting the process of pulling out of the UK, here in Scotland we’re looking at a second independence referendum, Ireland is being fed talks of a ‘United Ireland’ again amid serious worries about the jeopardisation of the Good Friday Agreement, and we have no leadership willing or capable to start the complicated and lengthy new negotiations that will now be needed. So many Leave voters seem to be regreting their choice as the reality is now starting to become clear to them and the lies they were fed are already being backtracked on.
As someone living in a very diverse and international city the inward-facing view of a lot of the country is a sad thing. I work for an internationally trading company so am worried for my job. I sell books internationally so now need to check the changes to those conditions. Myself, my generation and all the ones to follow have lost the right to live, work and study in Europe. I have so many friends here who have come from Europe for those very reasons – their position is now in jeopardy and there will be no others able to follow them. The boost they brought to out local economy will be lost, the money they provided to our local universities will be lost. The very diversity that makes up our country is being stamped out on a wave of racism and fearmongering.
I’m now holding my hopes on either Scotland being able to negotiate to stay in the EU separately from the rest of the UK (Denmark has a similar set-up so it’s not without precedent) or Indy2 actually going through. It is not a huge hope but tbh it’s more than the rest of the country has.
Anyway, apologies for the mini-rant – though I know quite a few international friends have been asking me about it, so there you go :p Writing-wise, it’s not been a very productive weekend I must admit. Edits are still coming along though for my wolves book 2 and I’m preparing for the re-release of Love Reawakened so things have still been happening. It’s also the last week of my old job (perhaps under the circumstances I should be keeping it lol!) but at least that will give me some more free time and hopefully a bit less stress.
Hope you have a good week. Take care x
Well, Monday rolls back around. Hope you’ve all had a good weekend. Mine has been great, had my parents visiting, which was lovely, and they even brought some gorgeous sunshine with them 🙂
Sadly back to reality (and the day job) today, but have been getting lots of things booked in this weekend so at least have some things to look forward to! Booked for the Romance Novellist’s Association (RNA) Conference in July. Will be the first conference I’ve been to and the line-up looks really interesting – some good panels and talks plus am putting in to possibly get some meet-ups with industry people. To be fair I’m not expecting too much to come out of that, but the experience and practice should be good. So, exciting but a little bit scary!
If I do get appointments booked though then will need to get my submission polished up quick and write a dreaded synopsis for it lol. Lots to get done this month 🙂
Anyway, hope your week gets off to a good start. Take care x
Well, it’s Monday again – they do seem to keep coming around! Have been busy as usual, writing has slowed a little while I’m waiting for the next part of the story to click for me, but still getting words down and lots of other stuff to catch up on. Also had a lovely dusting of snow at weekend – just enough to be pretty but not quite enough to bring everything to a stop 😉
Am getting very excited about going away next week. Just for a few days but I rarely manage a break and have been wanting to go to Harry Potter Studios pretty much since it opened 🙂 Looking for some fun things to do in London as well. Be warned, you may get spammed with photos afterwards lol.
Anyways, better get back to it. Hope you’re all having a good start to the week.
Take care x
Well, it’s Monday again and we’re creeping closer to Christmas! I must admit am still rather under the weather and haven’t been able to concentrate enough to get any new writing done. I’m consoling myself with getting some blog and social media updating done and have finally made a new cover for my Christmas story, which is going to come out this week (watch this space!). I must admit though after having a very productive November I’m feeling a little disappointed that not much seems to be getting done at the moment.
Still, these things happen and I’m thinking that since Christmas things will be coming up soon anyway, I might be better just writing this month off in terms of new writing and getting some planning in place for January. Ah well!
I hope you’re all having a more productive December, and getting into the holiday mood. I do love Edinburgh at this time of year, the markets, the fair and the historic streets lit up are just lovely – so I thought I’d share a few piccies with you 🙂
Take care x
Well, it’s been a busy month – managed a weekend home, where it’s always lovely to catch up with family and friends, and a short visit to the Highlands. Stunning scenery and I’m very lucky to have it just a few hours away. Have shared a few piccies so you can see what I mean 🙂 The first one is Eilean Donan Castle, which you might recognise from various films, and most of the rest are on the Isle of Skye.
On the writing front, it’s been all go as well. I’ve been lucky enough to find a new home for Love Reawakened with Three Worlds Press – and have just found out my new release date is going to be the 15th October. Exciting! It’s creeping up fast though so am busy with final edits and starting up promo things etc. I also have a lovely new cover that I can’t wait to share with you (soon, honest!).
I’ve really enjoyed delving back into this world, and have already started on book 2. For those of you who may have read already, it’s going to be Ailsa’s story – but don’t worry I’m going to get to Carisa and Deacon soon! I’m also writing a short prequel showing how Emma and Garret first met, which is probably going to be a free read on here, so keep an eye out 😉
Hope you’re all having a wonderful start to the week. Take care x
