My Sexy Saturday & Cover Reveal

Published June 25, 2016 by shellirosewarne

Hi all,

Hope your weekend is going well. I’m joining in the My Sexy Saturday blog hop today and since the theme is celebration I thought I would celebrate my shiny new cover for Love Reawakened by sharing it here first 🙂 It re-releases on the 30th so not long to go now! In the meantime I hope you enjoy the cover and the teaser.

Love Reawakened 3

Emma moaned as he tangled his hand in her hair, pulling her down so her body was crushed against him. She’d intended to give him a light, teasing kiss, but the moment they touched her senses went into overdrive. His tongue slid along the seam of her lips before plunging within, and groaning, she met it with her own. Her nipples hardened against his chest, even through her thin t-shirt, and his hand slid from her hair down her side to the band of warm skin where her jeans met her t-shirt and then underneath to cup her breast. His thumb rubbed back and forth across the sensitive bud, and a whimper rose in her throat.

Christ, it had always been like this between them. A simple touch was never enough, she always craved more. Her skin burned wherever they touched even through her clothes, and she desperately needed to be closer. She swung her leg across so she straddled him, and as she sank down, his erection met her rapidly dampening core and they both groaned. Oh God, that was just what she needed, only without the two pairs of jeans in the way.

She slid her hands between them, sliding them over the warm skin of his chest, tracing his pectoral muscles and the light smattering of hair. Then her fingers reached the thick bandage at the top, making him wince, and her body froze.

“It’s fine,” he murmured against her lips, trying to pull her back down to him.

She shook her head. What the hell is wrong with me? The guy had nearly died, had been awake for about ten minutes, and instead of trying to make him take it easy like the professional had told her to, she was jumping his bones. She pulled back, covering her face with her hands. This was before she even started on what a bad idea it was in the first place. They’d been down this road before, and he’d made it very clear nothing was going to happen. Didn’t she have enough on her plate right now without getting her heart broken again?

“Emma, what’s wrong?”

His voice was soft, and she forced herself to gaze up at him.

“I’m sorry. I really shouldn’t have done that.”

He smiled at her. “Did you hear me complaining? Unless it’s about the whiplash I just got.”

What do you think? Do feel free to share in the comments! And don’t forget to check out the rest of the excerpts here:

My Sexy Saturday 11/06/16

Published June 11, 2016 by shellirosewarne

Hi all,

Hope you’re having a good weekend 🙂 I’m joining in the My Sexy Saturday blog hop today – and this excerpt is from my fairy-tale inspired romance, Scarlett Legacy. Hope you enjoy x

castle5The length of the huge room was lit with glowing candle-bulbs, set in wall scones that seemed to float near the ceiling. Mirrors lined the walls, reflecting and multiplying the dozens of dancing couples. Music from a string ensemble floated on the air, and she smelled the mingling scents of incense and mulled wine. As she stared in complete wonder, feeling like she was in a cross between a fairytale and a regency novel, Sophie nudged her yet again. Really, the woman was getting a little pushy. She’d been quite happy in her own little fairytale imaginings.

When she glanced over, the young woman was gazing at her with amused expectation and nodding toward the bottom of the curved staircase. Natalia’s breath caught in an entirely different way, heat flooding through her. Damian stood at the bottom of the stairs. The only adjective that came to mind was ‘dashing’. He wore a formal tux, the material tailored perfectly to his toned body, the crisp white shirt setting off his tanned skin and the dark unruly hair that just brushed the collar. A glittering pin held his deep red cravat in place. It glowed in the light and looked extremely expensive. The look of utter appreciation that filled his amber eyes as he stared at her made her legs shaky and heat run down her spine.

Her feet didn’t seem to want to move and she needed yet another nudge to start down the long staircase. It seemed to last forever, but then he was taking her hand in his warm one, and somehow the fact that it was still as rough and calloused as it had been in the woods centered her. He smiled at her.

“You look stunning, Natalia. You put every woman here to shame with the light of your beauty.”

She found herself smiling back. From most people, such a compliment would seem contrived or completely over the top, but the complete sincerity in his voice told her he meant every word.

“Thank you,” she murmured. “You clean up pretty good yourself.”

couple“May I?” He gestured toward the dancing couples and she nodded, though not without some trepidation. She hadn’t been lying when she said she wasn’t much of a dancer.

She shouldn’t have worried, since her partner had obviously done this before. He skillfully twirled her around the floor, his arm securely around her waist in case she mis-stepped. Natalia felt as though she was flying, as her feet carried her gracefully around the floor. Her skirts swirled around her, making her feel ridiculously feminine. She could feel the heat of his body, his hand secure in hers, and the sense of rightness only grew. When the song stopped, her cheeks were flushed, but she could have stayed in that moment forever.

What if the fairy tales were not only real, but had it all wrong? Come meet a Big Bad Wolf like you’ve never seen before.

When Natalia rents a holiday cottage she is looking for peace and quiet, a place to reassess her life and recover from her failed relationship. Instead she finds a man who turns her world upside down.

However, people and things are not as they seem, and Natalia begins to find that legends are real and fairy tales have a basis in reality. As she grows closer to the enigmatic Damian she finds herself tested as danger and passion go in hand in hand, and everything she thought she knew about the world will be questioned.

After years of waiting Damian had given up hope that he would ever find his destined mate, and he certainly never expected her to be a sassy American who has no idea that his world even exists. Can he convince Natalia to believe in the impossible, and more importantly, can he protect her from those who seek to destroy his people.

Hi all,

Hope your weekend is off to a good start 🙂 It’s been a bit of a busy week here and am looking forward to a quiet weekend to catch up on some stuff and get some writing done. Since it’s Saturday though, I’m sharing an excerpt and this one is from Scarlett Legacy. I really hope you enjoy 🙂

Hi all,

How’s your weekend going? I’ve got a pretty quiet one planned but hopefully that means I’ll get some writing and editing done. Since it’s Saturday, I’m joining in the My Sexy Saturday blog hop. Today’s excerpt is from my current WIP (so please excuse any mistakes since it hasn’t gone through editing yet!). Hope you enjoy! 🙂

God damn, she could just lick that, all of it. He swung round, a snarl lifting his upper lip and she shrank back. When he saw his expression flattened.

“What are you doing here. You should be in bed.”

“I can’t sleep.” She whispered.

“So, you thought you’d wander the house?” A hint of amusement touched his eyes. “Or were you wanting to work out?”

She shook her head. She couldn’t seem to stop her eyes drifting over his pecs, his flat nipples, the light dusting of hair leading down his stomach and disappearing into his pants.

“Katya?”

Her eyes shot to his, a blush rising in her cheeks when she saw knowing amusement mixed with desire.

“I am not a saint. Go back to bed now, or you won’t be going alone.”

Hi all,

I’m a bit late posting today – computer problems yet again *sighs* but I’m happy to be joining in the My Sexy Saturday blog hop today. The theme is paranormal – so you know I couldn’t miss that 😉 This week’s excerpt is from Scarlett Legacy, and I’m currently hard at work on the sequel. Hope you enjoy!

sl rough 4For a moment, she imagined the room full of elegantly dressed people twirling across the floor. It would be an amazing sight. But hadn’t she intended to stay away from this man?

Amusement crossed his face as though he could tell exactly what she was thinking. “I assure you it will be a large affair; you could probably avoid me all night if you so desired.”

Natalia found herself smiling despite her reservations.

“I would prefer it if you were inclined to grace me with one dance.” He took her hand before she could protest and heat curled through her again. She tried to force her breathing back to normal.

“I haven’t even said I’ll go yet.”

Damian smiled, brought her hand to his lips, and lightly kissed it. Her breath caught and her tongue nervously snaked out over her dry lips. He held her gaze a long moment, and just when she was sure he would lean into her, and she was probably past stopping him, he abruptly released her.

“No, you haven’t agreed to come, but I hope you’ll consider it. I’ll arrange for an invitation to be dropped off for you.”

Panic sparked. She didn’t want him coming by her little cottage again. The man was entirely too disturbing to her peace of mind. No matter how many times she told herself that she needed to avoid him, or how much his behavior annoyed her, the moment he touched her, all her good intentions seemed to go straight out the window. She didn’t trust attraction like that. It felt too intense to be real.

“It’s fine. If everyone is going from the village then I’m sure they’ll have the details.”

He smiled again. She was rapidly starting to get annoyed with that smug look, like she was amusing him terribly. “I’m sure they will.”

Wolves_wolf_great_wallpapers_for_your_deskopTurning, he led the way to the grand foyer, which she had to admit was magnificent, and opened the huge double doors for her. She could see why the back entrance was easier, though she had to admit it did give her a bit of a fairy princess feel to be leaving a castle through the wide arched doorway and down the curved steps.

Natalia snorted slightly at the absurd thought and shot a sideways glance at Damian. Was he supposed to be the fairy prince then? That seemed even more ludicrous.

He suddenly grinned at her, a wide, wicked smile that showed his teeth. “I’m the Big, Bad Wolf, my dear. Don’t ever think otherwise.”

Then he turned and headed back into the house, leaving her staring baffled after him. Was that some really weird coincidence or had he actually responded to her thoughts?

My Sexy Saturday 20/02/16

Hi all,

How’s your weekend going? I’m joining in the My Sexy Saturday blog hop today, the theme this week is ‘mystery’ so I’m sharing an excerpt from my paranormal romantic suspense that I’m currently editing. Hope you enjoy 🙂

Don’t forget to check out the other great excerpts here: http://mysexysaturday.blogspot.co.uk/

Shannon Dempsey slipped her gun from its holster as she cautiously peered into the first floor apartment. The door was hanging off its hinges and she could see from here that the place seemed to have been ransacked. More than that though she could feel the fear and violence radiating out from the doorway, the emotions were so strong she could almost see them float in shimmering waves on the air. Sometimes it baffled her that no one else seemed to be able to sense them. She debated a moment whether to wait for backup, but the call had reported possible gunshots – waiting could cost lives.

She carefully stepped over the doorstep into the narrow hallway. The living room door was open and she pushed it right back against the wall as she entered the room. The emotions were stronger in here, seeping into her until her heart was pounding and a trickle of sweat ran down her back. You’d think after being on the force for over five years she’d be used to situations like this. To be honest she wasn’t sure she ever would be, and maybe it was for the best – if you stopped being scared you could get overconfident and that led to mistakes.

Shannon swept the room with her gun, her heart jumping into her chest when she saw a red patch seeping into the carpet and leading behind the stained brown couch. She kept turning constantly as she stepped over to it.

A surge of pity went through her as she stared down at the body of a middle aged man. He was thin, his face lined and careworn, a dark red stain spreading across the front of the faded checked shirt he wore. She automatically went to check for a pulse, though the pale blue eyes staring glassily at the ceiling already told her that she wouldn’t find one. Shannon closed her eyes a second against the guilt, if only she’d got here sooner.

Her fingers trembled slightly as they hovered over his skin. I thought you weren’t going to do this again. She told herself sternly, but guilt won out. If only she’d got here sooner, she owed it to the man to try anything to help now. Her teeth gritted as she lightly pressed her fingers against his cold skin and forced her mind to open.

Images and emotions flooded her, swamping her senses until she felt as through she was drowning under them. Panic, they were here, they had finally found her – fear not for herself, someone needed to be protected. She tried to grasp onto that image but it was swept aside, the thud of the door echoing through her. A brief flash of images, three men, she didn’t know them but she knew why they were here. Questions, they wanted something and they couldn’t have it, and then pain – shooting through her, so that spots appeared behind her eyes and she could see darkness racing towards her.

Enjoy the rest of your weekend! Take care x

cat grinHis face softened suddenly. “Surely, someone is looking for you then?”

Mary Ann was embarrassed to feel tears burn her eyes, and she squeezed them shut. “If anyone was looking for me then they would have found me by now. Obviously no one cares.”

The silence stretched out, and she forced herself to open her eyes, needing to see his face, though half-expecting there to be disgust etched on it. She was pathetic; apparently she couldn’t even do a one-night stand without fucking it up before it even started. He was staring at her, but the look on his face was odd and unreadable.

“I’m sorry,” she whispered. “I just feel so alone sometimes, I think I’m going mad.”

A small smile curved his full lips. “We’re all mad here, little mouse.”

She found herself reluctantly smiling back. Perhaps he was right. His smile suddenly broadened into that wide grin.

“I think perhaps you need to see something strange and beautiful.”

My Sexy Saturday – 23/01/16

Hi all,

fierce wolfFor a long moment, he just stared at her. “I don’t think you’ll believe me if I tell you, so it’s probably better if I show you. Please try not to be frightened though.” He suddenly bent in front of her, squeezing her hand hard and gazing deep into her eyes, his gaze desperate. “I swear it’s still me and I would never, ever hurt you.”

Her palms started to sweat and her heart beat a little faster. He was so obviously worried about her reaction that it couldn’t be anything good, but she wasn’t immune to the pleading look in his eyes and she found herself nodding. She couldn’t argue the connection between them. It felt as though she knew him, and, although that was probably stupid on so many levels, with that knowledge came the belief that he was an inherently good person, that he wouldn’t hurt her. In fact, he’d gone out of his way to look after her, to be there for her. She nodded again, more decisively now.

“Show me, please.”

Slowly letting go of her hand, he moved back, a good ten paces away from her before he stopped, his eyes never leaving hers.

She sat there as though frozen, anticipation running through her, unable to take her eyes from him. Waiting. There was an odd tingling in the air, a shimmer that seemed to move toward her in an invisible wave. She frowned, feeling it as an unconscious brush on her skin, when Damian suddenly threw his head back, his hands clenching at his sides and his whole body tensing. He looked as though he was in pain and her first thought was to go to him. She actually shifted as though to move.

Then, an odd shudder seemed to run through him. She stared in shock as his body began to contort. Muscles almost seemed to be popping, his limbs stretching, deforming, his face lengthening, narrowing, and thick hair covered his body. He bent over double, and then she realized that he was now on all fours, and the fours were paws and his clothes had been replaced by thick white and grey fur, and his face lengthened into a muzzle. He shook himself, and then looked up, straight at her, that amber gaze shockingly the same, and yet totally alien and feral in a wolf’s face.

Natalia’s jaw dropped. She was unable to move, unable to speak, her eyes simply gazing in shocked horror and complete disbelief. This really could not be happening. Any minute now, she was going to wake up in her bed after drinking way too much wine at the party, and this was all going to be a messed up dream. The huge wolf stepped toward her, his lip drawing back over rows of jagged white teeth, and she gave a squeak of fear.

red and wolfRun. The command ran through her mind, overtaking everything else, and she mindlessly obeyed it. Picking up her skirts, she whirled on her heel and fled, racing through the trees, heedless of the branches that tugged at her cloak and the roots that made her stumble. The only conscious thought left in her mind to get as far away as possible. When she finally stopped, her legs ached and her chest burned as she tried to catch her breath, sinking to the ground as sobs ran through her.

My Sexy Saturday – 16/01/16

Published January 16, 2016 by shellirosewarne

Hi all,

Yay, it’s weekend, and I’m joining in the My Sexy Saturday blog hop. Today’s excerpt in from my current WIP, which is part two in my wolves series (its not edited yet so please excuse any mistakes). Hope you enjoy x

blackwolfWhat the hell did this man do to her? She never acted like this. She didn’t do casual, she never had this kind of reaction to almost strangers. Never. Was this something to do with the weirdness of this place, had he cast some kind of weird species spell over her?

He gave a low chuckle, nipping lightly at the curve of the top of her breast. “You have the strangest ideas, honey.”

“What…?” Her brain wasn’t functioning too well, but she was pretty sure she hadn’t said anything out loud. God, she really was losing her mind – who would have thought it would be over a hawt, if mildly delusional, guy?

He laughed again. “As long as it’s only mildly.”

Fuck, she really needed to get a grip on her mouth. As though he heard her he took her mouth again, long drugging kisses that zapped her mental thought processes. Yup, that was probably the solution.

When he slowly released her a whimper of protest rose up. He smiled at her ruefully.

“Honey, if you’re going to want to stop, the time would be now, before we get too out of control.”

My Sexy Saturday 19/12/15

Hi all,

It’s Saturday and I’m excited because I’m off to see the new Star Wars today! Fingers crossed it will be good 🙂 In the meantime though, I’m happy to be joining in the My Sexy Saturday blog hop. The theme this week is Holidays, so I’m sharing an excerpt from my Christmas story, An Angel for the Tree. Angel 600x400Rachel was tugging on his hand again, seemingly oblivious to the adults interaction. “Daddy, come make a snow angel with me, Laurel was showing me how.”

He stared down at her, completely out of his depth. “Erm, I should probably go back inside.”

Her lower lip jutted out. “Ple-ase, Daddy. I can show you how to do really good ones.”

Yeah, he wasn’t going to win on this, and he let her drag him across to a wide patch of clear snow.

“Wait a second.” Laurel called out behind him. She pulled the woolly hat off her head and handed it to him. “You’ll catch cold without a hat on.”

Daniel stared in it confusion and laughing she stepped over and pulled it down over his ears.

“How can you live out here and not have a woolly hat?”

For a moment he just stared at her dumbly. He could smell the scent of her hair on the silly woolly thing and for a moment her fingers lingered, lightly brushing his hair back where it settled, before she seemed to catch herself and pull back. There was an odd warmth running through him, despite the snow falling around him.
